Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 12 ounces Fresh Cranberries (fresh or frozen, thawed)
  • 0.5 cup Red Onion finely chopped
  • 0.5 cup Orange Juice
  • 0.25 cup Lime Juice
  • 1 Jalapeño Pepper seeded and minced (adjust to taste)
  • 0.25 cup Light Brown Sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoons Cilantro chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black Pepper

Equipment

  • Medium Mixing Bowl

Method

Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the cranberries, red onion, orange juice, lime juice, jalapeño, brown sugar, cilantro, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  2. Gently stir to thoroughly combine all ingredients.
  3. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more jalapeño for extra heat, or more brown sugar for added sweetness.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. For an even more intense flavor, refrigerate for up to 24 hours before serving.
  6. Before serving, give the salsa a gentle stir to redistribute the ingredients.
  7. Serve chilled with tortilla chips, alongside grilled chicken or fish tacos, or as a topping for pork tenderloin.

Notes

For a smoother salsa, you can briefly pulse the ingredients in a food processor before refrigerating. Consider adding other complementary ingredients like chopped pecans or a pinch of cayenne pepper for an extra kick.
