- Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, butter, and salt. Stir constantly until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth. Do not boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, stirring until smooth after each addition. The mixture will be thick.
- Stir in the sugar cookie crumbs until evenly distributed.
- Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle with sprinkles, if desired.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
- Lift the fudge out of the dish using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use brown butter instead of regular butter. You can also experiment with different types of sprinkles or add chopped nuts for extra texture.
