- In a large bowl, melt butter. Whisk in flour until smooth.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Stir in salt, pepper, and paprika (if using).
- Stir in both types of cheese until melted and smooth.
- Add macaroni to the slow cooker. Pour cheese sauce over macaroni.
- Cook on low for 3-4 hours, or until macaroni is tender and heated through. Stir halfway through.
- If desired, sprinkle bread crumbs on top during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the cheese sauce. You can also experiment with different cheeses – Gruyere, Fontina, or Gouda would all be delicious additions.
