Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • Grated Parmesan cheese optional, for serving

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Microplane or Zester
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Serving Bowl or Plate

Method

  1. Step 1: In a large skillet, melt unsalted butter over medium heat. Take your time with this step; you want the butter to melt gently without browning.
  2. Step 2: Once the butter has melted, add minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant.
  3. Step 3: Stir in the zest of 1 lemon and 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Step 4: Allow the sauce to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, letting it simmer and thicken slightly.
  5. Step 5: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in chopped parsley. Toss the sauce with your favorite cooked pasta in a serving bowl.

Notes

This sauce can be made vegan by substituting butter with olive oil or plant-based butter. It can be prepared ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
