- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hashbrowns, chopped onion, melted butter, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix everything together until well combined.
- Step 3: Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and transfer the hashbrown mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly.
- Step 4: Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese on top. Optionally, add crushed cornflakes for an extra crispy topping.
- Step 5: Bake for 45-50 minutes until bubbly and the top is golden brown.
- Step 6: Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Make it healthier by using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream or low-fat cheese. You can also incorporate cooked bacon or sausage for a heartier dish.
