Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 1 Orange zest optional

Equipment

  • Whisk or electric mixer

Method

Instructions
  1. Combine cranberries, sugar, and orange juice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until cranberries burst and sauce thickens slightly. Stir occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  4. In a bowl, beat softened cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth and creamy.
  5. Gently fold the cooled cranberry sauce into the cream cheese mixture.
  6. Stir in jalapeno, pecans/walnuts (if using), and orange zest (if using).
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  8. Serve with crackers, tortilla chips, or bread.

Notes

For a less spicy dip, remove all the seeds and membranes from the jalapenos. You can also adjust the amount of sugar to your preference. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
